Motion should clarify the cut

Three checks for deciding whether a transition is carrying meaning or just occupying time.

Start with the edit. If the movement makes the next idea easier to understand, it has a job. If the same cut works better without it, remove the motion. The strongest systems give every transition a reason: reveal hierarchy, preserve orientation or mark a change in state.
